How OBY Afrika brought The Ordinary’s approximately 40-person creator event to life in a KOFISI gallery booked through Mahali, with key event inventory sourced in the same journey.

A strong brand event should feel like one clear idea from the first arrival to the final conversation. For The Ordinary’s Nairobi creator gathering, that responsibility sat with OBY Afrika, the execution agency that translated the skincare brand’s visual language into an approximately 40-person experience.
The starting point was KOFISI’s Art Gallery Event Space in Nairobi, booked through Mahali. Its open floor, concrete ceiling, white walls and broad windows gave OBY Afrika a flexible shell rather than a finished event look. That distinction matters: KOFISI provided the gallery space, Mahali connected the booking journey, and OBY Afrika planned and executed the event inside it.
OBY Afrika used the gallery’s scale to build distinct zones without making the room feel fragmented. A central presentation setup faced a raised conversation area; product education, consultation and interactive touchpoints sat around the perimeter; and cocktail-height gathering points kept movement easy between programmed moments.
The transformation stayed disciplined. The Ordinary’s black-and-white identity appeared across display plinths, cushions, product stations and signage, while plants and soft seating kept the clinical palette from feeling cold. The result was recognisably The Ordinary without asking the raw gallery to be something it was not.
Key event inventory was also sourced from a Mahali vendor: TV Screens, the couch seating represented by the Victorian Lounge Set listing, White Wimbledon (Foldable) Chairs and Wooden Funnel Cocktail Tables. Those are the real Mahali listings surfaced below. They supported OBY Afrika’s execution; they were not supplied or produced by the gallery itself.
For brand teams, the practical lesson is coordination. Sourcing the space and core rental inventory through one marketplace makes it easier to compare real options and keep the physical brief connected. It does not replace the agency’s work: creative direction, floor planning, branding, guest flow and on-site delivery still need an experienced execution partner.
The approximately 40-person format also shows why guest count should shape the room rather than simply fill it. OBY Afrika left enough negative space for creators to move between the stage, consultation table, product moments and social areas, so each part of the programme could read clearly in person and in photographs.
