Inside Temina Semo's retro poolside shoot — and how to book the same Nairobi pool deck for your own campaign.
Standout beverage and fashion campaigns come down to two things: visionary creative talent and a location that does half the styling for you. Digital creator Temina Semo's recent outdoor Smirnoff shoot at Céline & Lolo is a case study in both — a poolside set that reads as a European beach club without ever leaving Nairobi.
Semo leaned entirely into the venue's retro time-capsule pool, whose playful, unpretentious spirit mirrors modern lifestyle media. The checkerboard terracotta tiling, mid-century outdoor lounge furniture and lush tropical greenery gave the production a ready-made editorial stage — distinct, built-in styling that takes the weight off prop procurement and set design.
Her signature of romanticising contemporary Nairobi life complemented Bistro Lolo's sleek outdoor lounge layouts. By capturing the interplay of movement, liquid reflections and crisp midday light against the water, the shoot achieved an elevated, high-fashion finish in the capital.
The space is built for serious production. South-facing open-sky exposure delivers uninterrupted direct sunlight through the middle of the day, weather-proofed outdoor power supports heavy-duty continuous lighting and wind machines, and the level stone tiling around the pool safely anchors C-stands, diffusers and camera tracks. The clear, blue-tiled pool is ideal for catching sharp product reflections.
Céline & Lolo's pool deck comfortably holds a 15 to 45 person crew in the immediate pool zone, with dynamic hourly and full-day buyout rates on Book Mahali. Explore the spaces below.
